Problems #59 & 60 Page 92.

You are given this object make up
of two rectanges. I colored one
rectangle gray and the other pink.

First of all we need to find the perimeter
(The distance totally) around the object.
Notice we are not given two of the distances.
I denoted one in red and other in blue.

To find the blue distance we subtract the
60 feet partial distance from the total width
of 90 to get 30 feet.

To find the red distance we subtract the
80 from the total distance of 120 feet to get
40 feet.

To get the perimeter we add together all the
outside lengths.
That is 90 + 120 + 30 + 40 +60 + 80 =
420 feet.

To find the area of the figure we break it down
to two rectanges.  The gray one is 90 by 80 feet.
The pink one is 30 by 40 feet.

We multiply 90 X 80 = 7200 sqaure feet for the
gray rectangle and we multiply 40 X 30 = 1200
square feet for the area of the pink rectange.

The total area then of this figure is:
7200 + 1200 = 8,400 square feet.
